School Information
There are seven public schools in Windsor serving 4,566 students from kindergarten to grade 12. The school district includes one early childhood center, four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Windsor Public Schools website can be found at www.windsorct.org
Public Schools
- Windsor High School is a comprehensive secondary school. Courses are offered at the following levels of instruction: high honors (including courses in the advanced placement program and seminar program for the academically gifted), honors, standard and basic. Programs in tech prep, agriscience, UCONN coop, performing arts, and math and science are also supported.
- Sage Park Middle School utilizes a team approach with all of a student's "team" subjects being with the same group of teachers. Groupings in all academic subjects, with the exception of math, are heterogeneous.
- Windsor elementary schools have grades 1-5. These schools generally maintain the neighborhood concept. Core curriculum is enhanced by programs in visual arts, music and physical education.
- Roger Wolcott Early Childhood Center is home to all kindergarten classes and preschool and early learning programs for children with special needs. In addition to the half-day program there is a full-day program for five classes.
- Windsor students may also enroll in several interdistrict magnet schools located in nearby communities, including: Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, Greater Hartford Academy of Math and Science, and Metropolitan Learning Center, an international global studies magnet school with an intensive world language and technology component.
Private Schools
Windsor is home to the Loomis Chaffee School, a coeducational college-preparatory boarding and day school with a total enrollment of 720 students in grades 9-12. Information about Loomis may be found at www.loomischaffee.org
There are also four private religious schools that offer K-6, K-8, or K-12 programs.
Preschool and Montessori
Windsor has five private preschool programs in addition to the Town's own preschool programs and Montessori School. The Town also provides a unique school readiness program called Start Smart through which free home visits by a parent educator are available for parents and guardians of children ages birth to kindergarten.
