Pending Projects

  • Auto Auction – 49 Russell Rd, met with PZC at February Meeting to informally discuss expansion of parking area to allow for more inventory parking spaces.

Projects Under Construction

  • Advanced Wheels – 33 Bradley Park Rd, taken out building permit for tenant fitout for interior changes so they can move their existing business from International Drive to new location on Bradley Park Rd.
  • Dr. Energy Saver – 3 Turkey Hills, taken out building permit for tenant fitout to create new office space in the end two tenant spots at the Center Shops.
  • Mistras – 16 International Dr, taken out building permit for tenant fitout to construct an additional vault area.
  • Rockbestos – 11 Kripes Rd, Airport Business Center taken out building permit for tenant fitout for 16 thousand square feet of vacant space in preparation for new tenant Rockbestos, who will utilize space as research and development space for their company. Tenant fitout is complete working on electrical.
  • Brick Brothers – 46 Russell Rd, taken out a building permit to construct 7500 square foot building for storage/warehousing space. Footing inspection has been completed.

Recently Completed Projects

  • Dominos – 14 International Dr, taken out building permit for tenant fitout for interior remodel to create small truck reception area, new cooler storage space, and reconfigure prep areas. Interior changes will allow them more efficiently utilize existing space. Truck Reception Area is being postponed. All other interior renovations have been inspected and Dominos has received CO.

  • Water & Sewer Utility Extension Project – Town Engineer has met with CT Water Co and Water Pollution Control Authority in preparation for an RFP for design services.

  • Metal Finish & Supply Company – 12,500 sq ft expansion underway.

  • Suffield Apartment Homes – 18 luxury apartments from adaptive reuse of a commercial building.

On-Going Business Locations

  • Merchandising Partners – Moved into 21 Kenney Roberts Memorial Drive in the Mach One Industrial Park – 15k sq ft
  • Land Clearing Company – Acquired 16.5-acre Lot A7 of the New England Business Center off Firestone Drive as well as a contractor’s yard on Austin Street.
  • Ffyler Place Redevelopment – National pharmacy interested in front two-acres of former lumberyard.
  • Lincoln Educational Services – 56-acre campus with 200 dorm room educational facility is on the market.
  • C&S Wholesale Grocers – Exercised their option to acquire 700k sq ft distribution center.
  • CL&P Upgrades – Installation of new transmission lines driving force in grand list growth.
  • Arcor Laser Services – Secured Small Business Express Grant for purchase of major piece of equipment.

Pending Projects

  • 2 North Main – Former service station at gateway to downtown. Owner got permit for windows, etc. to prepare for marketing.
  • 317 Ella Grasso Turnpike – 5,730 sq ft space to be leased to Nestle frozen goods.
  • Former H&M Restaurant – Expect application this week for new restaurant.
  • Historic Train Station – Acquisition pending from Amtrak for $1. STEAP grant extended for two additional years.
  • Governors Station Frontage Road – State approved; waiting for design.

Projects Under Construction

  • Pride Gas Station – Adding diesel fuel station and new sidewalks.
  • HillsPoint Hotel – Former Beverly Hills Suites is being renovated. It has 165 rooms and large banquet facility.

Recently Completed Projects

  • Alberts’s Restaurant – Demolition complete.
  • McDonalds – New restaurant is open for business.
  • H&M Grinder Shop – New building on Spring Street now open.
  • Clean Energy – Natural Gas fuel dispensary now open.

On-Going Business Locations

  • Passport Restaurant Property – Acquired by John Barberino. Looking to convert former restaurant building into apartments. Possible office construction on remainder of the property.
  • 2 Ella Grasso Turnpike – Acquired by John Barberino for internet leasing of vehicles.
  • Montgomery Building – One bid was received for $100 at the tax foreclosure sale on Feb. 16th. TOD planning study indicates this property is a linchpin.

  • Stop and Shop – Plans submitted for $650K energy efficiency/remodeling project at 1095 Kennedy Rd.
  • Travelers Claim University – Plans submitted for $1.5M training space expansion within existing building at 99 Lamberton Rd.
  • Loomis Chaffe – Site plan submitted for new dorm and infirmary building on campus.
  • Villages at Poquonock – Detailed plan approved for 297 units of single and multi-unit housing on the former Brown’s Golf Driving Range. Site clearing has started.
  • CREC Magnet School – Reuse of office complex for an aerospace and engineering magnet school at 1101 Kennedy Rd. Rezoning and site plan approved.
  • Great Pond Village – 700-acre mixed-use redevelopment of ABB site at 2000 Day Hill Rd. Concept Plan, form-based code, financing agreement and subdivision plan approved.
  • 55-69 Mechanic St Redevelopment Project – Development agreement approved for 130-unit apartment project on site near commuter rail station in Windsor Center.

Projects Under Construction

  • ISO New England – 70,000 sq ft office/data and back-up control center at 800 Day Hill Rd.
  • Dollar Tree – 1 million sq ft distribution center at 99 International Dr. Site plan and incentive approved; construction commenced; lawsuit dropped.
  • Kids Dental – Tenant fit-out for 4,800 sq ft dental office at 697 Poquonock Ave.
  • Millbrook Liquor – Renovation of former Scully Motor at 147 Poquonock Ave for package store.

Recently Completed Projects

  • WB Meyers – 78,000 sq ft warehouse addition at 175 Great Pond Dr.
  • Community Health Services – Renovation of former Dollar Green store at 511 Windsor Ave for a community health clinic.

On-Going Business Locations

  • JB Hunt Transportation – Leased 24,000 sq ft warehouse space at 75 International Dr.
  • TJ Maxx – Closed its store in the Windsor Shopping Center.
  • Riley Power – To lease 7,800 sq ft of office space at 100 Corporate Dr.
  • ITS Freight – 500 Hayden Station was purchased by the owner of ITS Freight.
