The first of Spirit Airlines' flights from Bradley International Airport will arrive from Orlando, Fla., tonight and later depart as the low-cost airline begins to serve Connecticut customers.

Spirit's new first ultra-low-fare service at Bradley in Windsor Locks includes the new route to Orlando and another route, which is seasonal, to Myrtle Beach, S.C. The latter flight is scheduled for Friday morning, said Kevin Dillon, Connecticut Airport Authority executive director.

A water cannon salute is scheduled when the inbound Orlando plane arrives at approximately 6:30 p.m. The flight will depart around 7:30, he said.

"We're very pleased Spirit has elected to start service here," Dillon said. "It is a piece of our service we felt was missing."

Spirit offers fares as low as $49 for members and $79 for nonmembers, the company said.

The Orlando service will include a daily, year-round route, while Myrtle Beach will see seasonal service four days a week. The airline will also provide daily, year-round service to Ft. Lauderdale beginning June 15.

Windsor Locks is the 60th city to join the Spirit Airlines network.

Other airlines have added service at Bradley during the past year, including a regular a flight to Ireland by Aer Lingus; a route to Los Angeles by American Airlines; a route to Denver by United Airlines; and a route to Pittsburgh by OneJet.
