Past Activities

Over the past 10 years the League has partnered with the Department of Transportation, Department of Economic and Community Development, Northeast Utilities, Connecticut Development Authority, Capitol Region Growth Council, U.S. Department of Agriculture and others to further the interests of the airport region.

Activities have included:

  • Direct mail campaigns to companies in the Boston and New York regions.
  • Advertisements and articles in the New England Real Estate Journal, the Hartford Business Journal, and Airport News.
  • Designed and constructed a tradeshow booth.
  • Established a BDL 1-800 number (800-568-8880) that gives prospects immediate access to all that the four towns and Bradley International Airport have to offer.
  • Printing of a Bradley Development League brochure which includes a map of developable land.
  • Assisted in efforts in locating Shuttle America headquarters in Windsor Locks.
  • Participated in activation of the Foreign Trade Zone #71 in Windsor Locks.
  • Worked toward the establishment of a Perishables Center in Suffield.
  • Participated in international marketing efforts through ventures to the Netherlands, Israel, Germany, and Columbia.
  • Co-sponsored with Northeast Utilities a seminar for aerospace and air freight business following the events of September 11, 2001.
